Leehwa HONG

Ehwa Hong is a composer born in Korea and based in France. After studying classical composition and writing, she is today a composer of contemporary music. She studied at the CNSMD in Lyon in the first year of a master's degree in mixed composition with Michele Tadini. She has participated in various international activities such as the IRCAM Manifesto, the ICMC International Electroacoustic Music Festival and the Timf Academy led by Unsuk-Chin. His compositions have been performed in several countries around the world. Currently, his composition gives preponderant importance to the richness of the timbres and the first impression that his works give off. She constantly emphasizes an in-depth exploration of sonic nuances, believing that each musical element within a composition must reflect her aesthetic preferences so that the work can sincerely represent her. Often, his creations take the form of multichannel compositions. This orientation results from her deep interest in sound spatialization, reinforced by her conviction that these multichannel compositions allow a more effective transmission of the elements that are particularly close to her heart to the ears of her audience. She writes for varied compositions, from the instrument soloist in the orchestra through chamber music, and she continues to write electronic and mixed works. She explores different aspects of music through her compositional activities and has developed a keen interest in percussion instruments, particularly their distinctive sounds. This interest led her to a current career as a percussionist, where she now studies with Jean-Luc Rimey Meille at the CRR in Lyon.
