Ehwa
HONG

Ehwa Hong is a composer born in Korea and currently based in France. After studying classical composition, she has now established herself as a composer of contemporary music. She is pursuing her studies at the CNSMD of Lyon in the second year of a master's program in mixed composition under Michele Tadini.

She has participated in various international activities, such as Ircam Manifeste, the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), and the Timf Academy led by Unsuk Chin. Her compositions have been performed in multiple countries worldwide.

Currently, her work places significant importance on the richness of timbre and the first impressions conveyed by her pieces. She emphasizes an in-depth exploration of sonic nuances, ensuring that every musical element within her compositions reflects her aesthetic preferences, enabling her works to sincerely represent her.

Often, her creations take the form of multichannel compositions, an approach stemming from her deep interest in sound spatialization. She believes that multichannel compositions offer a more effective way to convey the elements closest to her heart to her audience.

She writes for a variety of ensembles, ranging from solo instruments to orchestras and chamber music, and continues to compose electronic and mixed works. Through her compositional activities, she explores different facets of music and has developed a strong interest in percussion instruments, particularly their distinctive sonorities. This passion has led her to her current career as a percussionist, where she studies with Jean-Luc Rimey Meille at the CRR of Lyon.
